Andreas Kirchner was an East German hammer thrower and bob pusher for record holder Wolfgang Hoppe. He competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won two medals in the four-man with a gold in 1984 and a bronze in 1980. He was born in Erlbach-Kirchberg, Saxony. Kirchner also won two medals in the two-man event at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in 1981 and a bronze in 1982.
