title: American–Portuguese conflict
text: The American–Portuguese conflict was a political crisis between the United States and Portugal regarding Portuguese colonialism in Africa. This conflict began in 1961 and ended in 1963 after the Kennedy administration failed to influence the events in Portugal and in Africa, mainly in Angola and, according to Professor Luís Rodrigues, "Portugal proved to be the little David who ultimately forced Goliath to change its behavior."
