Alberto III Pío, Prince of Carpi, was an Italian Renaissance prince. He cultivated interest in humanism and was an intimate of the Medici popes. He was born in Carpi, the eldest child of Caterina Pico and Lionello I Pio of Savoy. His father died when he was two years old and he and his siblings raised under the guardianship of his paternal uncle Marco and his maternal uncle, humanist Giovanni Pico della Mirandola.
