text: Al-Fadl ibn Yahya al-Barmaki was a member of the distinguished Barmakid family, attaining high offices in the Abbasid Caliphate under Harun al-Rashid. Fadl was the eldest son of Yahya al-Barmaki, the founder of the family's fortunes.
