The Air and Missile Defense Forces is one of three branches of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The branch was formed in 2015 during the creation of the Russian Aerospace Forces as the branch responsible for all strategic land-based air defense. The primary combat formation of the unit is the 1st Special Purpose Air and Missile Defense Army. As of 2023 the commander of the branch is Lieutenant General Andrei G. Dyemin.
