Aimé Humbert-Droz was a Swiss politician, traveler and educator. He was elected President of the Swiss Council of States in 1856 and President of the Union Horlogère Suisse in 1858. Humbert-Droz is also renowned for leading the first Swiss Diplomatic mission to Japan and successfully signing the first trade agreement between the two nations on 6 February 1864 with the Support of Dutch Consul General Dirk de Graeff van Polsbroek. After Humbert left Japan, De Graeff van Polsbroek represented Switz
