Acción Feminista Dominicana (AFD), was a women's organization in Dominican Republic, founded in 1931. The women's movement in the Dominican Republic organized in 1931 with the establishment of the Acción Feminista Dominicana (AFD) under Abigail Mejia. The purpose of the AFD was to work for the legal equality between men and women, among them women's suffrage. In order to reach their goal the AFD allied with dictator Rafael Trujillo, who used AFD in his propaganda to secure support for his regime
