Abai is a district of Abai Region, eastern Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is the selo of Karaul. Population: 15,228; 15,258; 17,885. In 1939-1997, this territory was the Semipalatinsk region with the administrative center in Semipalatinsk. Abai region was formed in 1997. The district is 6.5 sq. km.
