The 6th Port of Embarkation, Headquarters Company was a combat service support unit of the United States Army serving the Transportation Corps and the Quartermaster Corps during World War II, under the command of Col. R. Hunter Clarkson, Transportation Officer of the Delta Base Section. The 6th Port worked the ports of French Morocco, French Algeria, Italy and France, and was responsible for the movement of troops and supplies, loading and unloading the ships, and looking after 50,000 troops.
