text: 49th Division The 49th Division was an infantry division of the Imperial Japanese Army. Its call sign was the Wolf Division. The 49th Division was formed 6 January 1944 in Seoul, around a nucleus formed from the 64th infantry brigade and the headquarters of the 20th division. The headquarters were located in Nara.
