text: 30942 Helicaon is a Jupiter trojan from the Trojan camp, approximately 33 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 8 February 1994, by Belgian astronomer Eric Elst at ESO's La Silla Observatory in northern Chile. The dark Jovian asteroid has a long rotation period of 44.8 hours. It was named after the Trojan warrior Helicaon from Greek mythology.
