The 28th Regiment "Pavia" is an active unit of the Italian Army based in Pesaro in the Marche. The regiment is named for the city of Pavia and was originally part of the Italian Army's infantry arm. In 2004 the regiment was redesignated as a "multi-arms unit" and became the army's operational communications. Since 2022 the regiment is assigned to the Tactical Intelligence Brigade. The regiment was formed in 1860 by the Royal Sardinian Army. In 1866, the regiment participated in the Third Italian
