The 2019–20 season was Stoke City's 103rd season in the Football League, the 43rd in the second tier and sixth in the Championship. Stoke manager Nathan Jones brought in ten new players ahead of the 2019–20 season in order to play in his preferred 'diamond' formation. These changes failed to improve the team and they began the season in terrible form collecting just eight points from the first 14 matches which lead to Jones being sacked by the club on 1 November 2019.
