Mary Pierce defeated Francesca Schiavone in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2005 Kremlin Cup. It was Pierce's final career WTA Tour title. Anastasia Myskina was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Elena Dementieva in a rematch of the previous year's final.
