The 2001 Essex County Council election took place on 7 June 2001 to elect members of Essex County Council in Essex, England. This was on the same day as other local elections and the 2001 general election. 79 councillors were elected from various electoral divisions, which returned either one or two county councillors each by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office.
