text: Rod Laver defeated Tony Roche in the final, 7–9, 6–1, 6–2, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1969 US Open. It was his second US Open singles title and eleventh and last Grand Slam tournament singles title overall. With the win, he completed the Grand Slam, and remains the only man in the Open Era to do so in singles.
