The 1929–30 English football season was Aston Villa's 38th season in The Football League. Dicky York hit seven goals in 32 games in 1929–30. The Second City derby commenced on the first day of the season. Villa beat Birmingham 2–1 with goals from Reg Chester and Dicky York. They drew 1–1 in December at St Andrews. In October Villa beat Leicester City 3-0 before a 45,000 crowd at Villa Park. There were debuts for Eric Houghton (361), George Brown (116), Fred Biddlestone (151), Bob Brocklebank and
